Gourmet Gorillas were providing outdoor catering in Rubery last Saturday

The event was for a wedding reception – one year later! The original wedding was held under those dreaded COVID restrictions, so a celebration party was held last Saturday. What a great event.

We managed to squeeze our equipment down a covered passage-way and into the Rubery back garden. The party had been well planned and the garden was covered with a white marquee style covering. the weather however was perfect and the sun shone.

The hosts selected some very tasty BBQ options. The popular 6oz burgers and pork sausages were on the menu, together with BBQ Pork ribs and pork and pepper kebabs. The salad accompaniments looked good too as they had chosen the Greek salad and Mediterranean pasta salad.

We had lots of preparation to do, the day before. We soak the ribs in coca cola and then cook them slowly, we then prepare a home made BBQ sauce and coat the ribs during the last half hour of cooking.  They are mouth wateringly delicious and the meat literally falls off the bone.  The guests were very appreciative.

Our hosts had also asked for a selection of vegetarian options, so we cooked on separate equipment, vegan burgers and sausages, vegetable halloumi then aubergine and asparagus. this last dish is a new addition and is proving popular this year. We make a dressing with lemons, olive oil and rosemary and marinade the asparagus and aubergine before it is griddled.

To complete this we finished off with our vintage ice cream cart, again the selections were perfect. Henley Ice Cream served in cones or cup. Cookies and cream, raspberry ripple, salted caramel and mint choc chip was the selection.

We had a lovely email thanking us. It was an absolute pleasure.
